Small-Group or Individual Tutoring?
Both formats can help a high school student build confidence in a class or prepare for an exam. At Star Tutoring Group, small-group tutoring is a strong starting point for many students; individual sessions are available when a more focused pace makes sense. We meet in person at our Hollis and Jamaica centers.
When small-group tutoring fits
A small group gives students a regular study routine, chances to ask questions, and the benefit of hearing classmates explain their thinking. It can work well when students are studying the same subject or preparing for a similar exam and are comfortable learning alongside peers.
When individual tutoring fits
Individual sessions offer more time on one student’s specific questions and pace. They may be useful when the student has a particular gap to work through, needs to move through material differently from a group, or wants focused practice on a specific class or test topic.
Three questions to help you choose
What class, assignment, or exam needs attention right now?
Does the student learn well by talking through ideas with peers, or prefer a quieter pace?
What schedule can the student keep consistently?
The best format can change as goals change. Bring recent schoolwork or practice results to a conversation so we can discuss a sensible starting point.
