Star Tutoring Group offers in-person math support at our Hollis and Jamaica centers, with small-group tutoring and individual sessions available. We work with students from elementary school through introductory college courses.

Math help by grade and goal

Elementary and middle school

Build confidence with arithmetic, fractions, decimals, ratios, word problems, pre-algebra, and geometry foundations. Sessions can connect new skills to current homework and classroom lessons. Read more about elementary and middle school tutoring.

High school coursework

Get support with Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and other high school math assignments. Students can bring a recent quiz, class notes, or a problem set so the first sessions focus on the concepts they need now. Explore our high school tutoring guide.

Exams and college-level courses

For New York State exams, we can focus on the math topics and practice that matter for a student's Regents exam. We also offer SAT and ACT preparation, including math practice and a study plan. Introductory college math support is available depending on the course and tutor fit; share the course name when you contact us.

What happens first?

  1. Tell us the student's grade or course, the topics that feel difficult, and any upcoming quiz or exam.
  2. A tutoring advisor discusses the goal, your preferred center, and whether a small group or individual session is the better fit.
  3. Bring classwork, notes, or a recent assessment to help the tutor see where to begin.
